ITV asks if celebs can sing

UK broadcaster ITV has commissioned Zodiak Media Group’s RDF Television to make a new primetime entertainment series.

Sing If You Can sees two teams of British celebrities face off as each tries to outdo the other’s renditions of modern and classic songs while being distracted by various comical challenges.

Celebrities may have to sing from a stage-built erupting volcano, on a high wire, or while having their chest waxed. Presumably the last of these scenarios will not apply to Bridgette Nielsen, who is among those appearing in the programme.

The final song is performed on a giant turntable that spins faster and faster and the longer the team can keep their balance, the more money they can win for charity.

C21 reported the commission in January, but ITV has today confirmed the move.

The series will be hosted by Vernon Kay and was commissioned by Elaine Bedell and John Kaye Cooper at ITV. Meriel Beale series produces for RDF and Peter Usher exec produces. Zodiak Rights holds worldwide format rights.
