Ingenious invests $1.4m in Whizz Kid

Ingenious Media Active Capital (IMAC) has pumped almost £1m (US$1.5m) into UK production company Whizz Kid Entertainment to create new TV programming and formats.

Ingenious has given £951,600 to newly formed Whizz Kid Productions, a subsidiary of Whizz Kid Entertainment, to “undertake the production and development of various TV programmes and formats,” Ingenious said.

Ingenious Ventures will invest the money from the Media Opportunities Fund and in return take a 97.5% stake in Whizz Kid Productions.

Whizz Kid Entertainment has previously produced live event television for Channel 4 in the UK, including 3D coverage of the Bestival music festival for Sky.

IMAC currently owns 47.25% of the equity in Whizz Kid Entertainment and also owns UK distributor DRG, which has recently played down reports that it could be sold by IMAC.
