Icflix grows in Middle East

Dunia, Icflix’s first original Arabic toon

Middle Eastern and North African VoD service Icflix has teamed up with local telecoms firm Viva to bring its movies and TV series to Kuwait.

Dubai-based Icflix will offer Viva Kuwait subscribers its original shows, including teen female superhero animated series Dunia, alongside Arabic, Bollywood and Hollywood movies such as American Hustle.

Icflix started its own productions in 2014 with HIV and Al Makida, and last year teamed up with Moroccan director Noureddine Lakhmari to coproduce a film set in Casablanca.

Subscriptions to Icflix in Kuwait will cost KD2.4 (US$7.87) per month or KD0.7 per week.

Earlier this month Icflix expanded its footprint into the Kingdom of Bahrain after signing a deal with local telecoms operator Zain Bahrain.
