HBO feels more Euphoria

Euphoria stars actor and singer Zendaya

HBO in the US has renewed drama series Euphoria, based on the Israeli show of the same name, for a second season.

Produced in partnership with New York-based film and TV prodco A24, Euphoria follows a group of high-school students as they navigate a minefield of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.

Ranking as HBO’s youngest-skewing drama series on its digital platforms, the series stars Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as a 17-year-old drug addict struggling to make sense of her future after a stint in rehab. Her life changes dramatically when she meets a girl who recently moved to town following her parents’ divorce and is similarly searching for belonging.

The US version was created and written by Sam Levinson and is based on Israeli broadcaster Hot’s drama of the same name, which was created by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin.

Euphoria is executive produced by Levinson, Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Drake, Future the Prince, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Leshem, Levin, Tmira Yardeni, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokady, Gary Lennon and Jim Kleverweis.
