Fremantle finds National Treasures

National Treasures was created by EZ Films

Production giant Fremantle has struck a multi-territory deal with distributor NordicWorld for an Irish factual entertainment format that first aired on pubcaster RTÉ.

Fremantle has acquired the format rights to National Treasures (4×60′), created by Irish prodco EZ Films, in a number of key territories around the world.

The series, which explores the social history of a nation by uncovering notable objects in the hands of its citizens at a series of roadshow events, first aired this spring in a primetime Sunday evening slot on RTÉ.

The format was created by EZ Films in partnership with RTÉ and the National Museum of Ireland. It sees a team of curators selecting objects for an upcoming exhibition based on their historical/cultural significance rather than their monetary value.

The multi-territory deal was brokered by Nordic World’s Ann Christin Siljan and Fremantle VP of global acquisitions and development Levina Negi.

“Viewer engagement is a key element of the format and every household will have one or several objects and documents that illustrate and recount their country’s history that they will want to share,” said Negi.
