Fox signs Jeff Davis to overall deal

Fox Entertainment in the US has signed Jeff Davis, creator of Criminal Minds and Teen Wolf, to an exclusive broadcast deal.

The tie-up is the first overall deal for Fox Entertainment, which includes the Fox network and was formed after Disney acquired other assets belonging to 21st Century Fox. It will see Davis develop scripted dramas for the channel.

Davis is behind CBS drama Criminal Minds and MTV’s Teen Wolf, for which he also oversaw 100 episodes as showrunner. He is currently working on a pilot for US cablenet Syfy based on classic series Night Gallery, while Criminal Minds ends its 15-season run later this year.

Most recently, he was commissioned by MTV to write and executive produce a live-action remake of anime series Aeon Flux.

“As the company’s first direct overall deal, it has even greater significance because it underscores our commitment to being in business with the industry’s best creators – and offering them flexibility and backend, both rare commodities in today’s marketplace,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox Entertainment.

In related news, Fox Entertainment has named former Sony Pictures Television (SPT) executive Amy Carney as its new chief operating officer. Based in LA, Carney will oversee research, strategy and operations for the company.

Carney most recently was president of advertiser sales, strategy and research at SPT, which she joined in 2003. Before that, she was VP of sales for Univision Online.
