Entertainment Rights takes Short Cuts to Cannes

UK distributor Entertainment Rights has made what it's calling a {significant investment{ in a new live-action drama series Short Cuts, in response to the global demand for live-action aimed at kids.

The company has acquired TV, video, licensing and merchandising rights to the pacey 26×30' drama for all territories excluding Australia.

The show is to be aired in the UK by Disney Channel as part of the production deal, with Entertainment Rights close to inking a UK terrestrial deal for the show. It will get its international launch at the upcoming MIPCOM Jnr.

It revolves around nine media students who explore the various uses and misuses of a video camera in school. Through the camera, they explore their world, their own feelings and other people's. It is aimed at kids 8+ and teens.

The show is made by Burberry Productions in association with Australia's Seven Network and The Disney Channel in both Australia and the UK, with funding from the FFC. Burberry's Ewan Burnett (The Wayne Manifesto, Eugenie Sandler PI) exec produces.
