Elisa Viihde renews Shadow Lines

Elisa Viihde’s Cold War spy thriller Shadow Lines

Finnish streaming service Elisa Viihde has commissioned a second season of drama series Shadow Lines, while the first has been picked up by a host of international broadcasters.

AMC Networks’ streaming service Sundance Now and Australia’s SBS have taken the first season.

Produced by Zodiak Finland for Elisa Viihde, Shadow Lines is a spy thriller set in the 1950s, during the Cold War. It is written by mother-and-daughter team Kirsti and Katri Manninen and directed by AJ Annila and Alli Haapasalo.

S1 launched on Elisa Viihde’s Aitio service last October and S2 will premiere in late 2021, with filming set to start later this month.

Shadow Lines is distributed internationally by France’s APC, from whom Sundance Now in the US, Canada and UK and SBS have picked up the first 10×45′ season.

Viasat World has also acquired S1 for its Epic Drama Channel across Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics and CIS, as have RTP2 in Portugal, Belgium’s Proximus, AMC’s Sundance TV in Spain, and RTS and UPC in Switzerland.
