Double’s Dilemma wins latest Digital Pitch

CONTENT LONDON: Turkish drama Double’s Dilemma has won C21’s latest Digital Pitch as Content London On Demand concludes today.

Esra Saydam

The C21 Digital Pitch is a quarterly initiative that allows creators to connect the best new ideas with the global content community.

Creators present their projects through C21’s Digital Pitch Platform, and the world’s leading buyers and commissioners choose their favourites. These pitches are exposed to C21’s community of more than 200,000 international entertainment executives around the world to amplify their exposure.

Double’s Dilemma (8×45’) is from writers/producers Esra Saydam and Mauricio Leiva-Cock and producer and Atilla Salih Yucer. Karlakum Film, Fidelio Films and Yaka Film are the production companies behind the series.

The plot focuses on a low-level street criminal and his soulmate who invent a machine that can print hyper-realistic masks that allow them to assume the identity of anybody they want. The Turkey-set series is based on the bestselling novel by Murat Mentes.

As the winning pitch, the project will receive a marketing package through C21Media worth £30,000 (US$40,490) to support development and pre-sales promotion of the show.

From more than 30 submissions, 12 projects were shortlisted and selected to present a self-shot pitch to camera as part of this week’s Content London On Demand.

The 12 final shows featured early-stage drama and comedy projects from established and next-generation producers from Austria, Brazil, Iceland, Israel, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and the US.

The judging panel was made up of Elly Vervloet, international drama executive for VRT in Belgium, Jeff Cooke, VP of programming at Starz in the US, Liz Lewin, commissioning editor at UK pay TV broadcaster Sky, and Noel Manzano, VP of international programming at AMC in the US.
