Disney+ Hotstar takes Selfie

Cosmos-Maya’s Selfie With Bajrangi

Indian OTT service Disney+ Hotstar has commissioned 234 episodes of an animated series from India- and Singapore-based animation studio Cosmos-Maya.

The multi-season deal will see Cosmos-Maya produce three 78×11’ series of Selfie With Bajrangi for Disney+ Hotstar, which has 400 million viewers, eight million paying subscribers and additional library content from Disney+, making it the most biggest OTT platform in India in terms of both subscribers and content.

Selfie With Bajrangi follows a young child who befriends Bajrangi, a nine-year-old version of the Indian god Hanuman. Bajrangi accompanies the young boy everywhere, helping him with his day-to-day problems.

The series has been running on Disney India’s pay TV properties since September 2018, and is available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Disney+ Hotstar was formed after The Walt Disney company bought Hotstar owner Star India’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, last year, with the Mouse House opting to merge Hotstar and new SVoD proposition Disney+ in India.
