The winning project will receive a development opportunity with Shorta, whose creative team will work closely with the creator to develop the idea into a vertical series concept with international market appeal.
This includes creative mentorship and ongoing guidance from Shorta throughout script development, alongside a first-look meeting with the platform’s executives for consideration on its future development slate.
The competition is looking for bold, original projects that have been created specifically for mobile-first audiences, across genres and themes, and which showcase the creative and commercial potential of vertical storytelling.

C21’s editor-in-chief & managing director David Jenkinson said: “We are delighted to partner with Shorta on this initiative to help take the vertical market to the next level. While vertical programming is everywhere, the sector needs to evolve to attract more quality storytellers, and this is a great way to do that.”
Shorta CEO and co-founder Tomás Escobar (Cuevana, Acámica) said: “The way people consume stories has changed: they live on mobile and on social, and the industry has not caught up. Shorta was built for that moment, combining technology, data and cinema-quality standards to bring vertical fiction to premium audiences in more than 20 countries, from Argentina, Mexico and Colombia to Spain, the US, Brazil, Italy, France and India. The key players of this format are being defined right now, and Shorta intends to be one of them.”
From the pool of submissions made between October 13 and November 23, a select number of finalists will be chosen.
The selected finalists will be invited to pitch their projects live in front of a panel of judges and Content Americas delegates in Miami on January 19, 2027.
Successful finalists will be notified by December 14, 2026.
