CW enters Labyrinth, revives Veronica Mars

US network The CW has acquired German-South Africa coproduced miniseries Labyrinth and greenlit a Veronica Mars web series.

Historical miniseries Labyrinth (4×60′) is an adaptation of Kate Mosse’s novel of the same name. Set in both modern and medieval France, it follows the lives of two women who are separated by centuries, but united in their search for the Holy Grail.

It was produced by Tandem Communications and Film Afrika Worldwide, in association with Scott Free Films and Universal Production Partners.

The CW is also bringing back Veronica Mars for between six and eight 10-minute webisodes hosted on the CW Seed website ahead of the upcoming Kickstarter-funded feature film, released March 14. The original TV show starred Kristen Bell as a student turned private detective and ran for 64 episodes between 2004 and 2007 on The CW.

In other news, the networks has also picked up two reality series – Barber Battle, a half-hour competition series that pits US barbers against eachother, hosted by actor and comedian Cedric the Entertainer, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us, a one-hour show that celebrates magic.

However, dancing reality show Breaking Pointe, which provided a behind-the-scenes look at the Ballet West company in Salt Lake City, is not to return for a third season, the channel has confirmed.
