CBS includes Oliver in teen block

CBS in the US has partnered with independent producer and distributor Litton Entertainment on an educational Saturday morning block for teenagers, featuring UK chef Jamie Oliver.

The three-hour programming block will feature six shows that have a “pro-social message,” CBS said, targeting 13- to16-year-olds and beginning September 28.

Each of the shows will be rated TVG and offer “uplifting, educational and entertaining messages on subjects of interest to teenage audiences,” including pet adoption, animal care and healthy eating, according to CBS.

Show titles include Lucky Dog, Dr Chris Pet Vet and Recipe Rehab, while the UK production Jamie Oliver’s 15 Minute Meals has also been acquired for the block.

The lifestyle series first aired on Channel 4 in the UK and is produced by Oliver’s Fresh One Productions.

“We join CBS in our mission to inspire young people and the American family to see television as an entertainment and educational resource in each original episode we produce,” said Dave Morgan, Litton’s founder and CEO.
