CBBC to go Live & Dangerous on Saturdays

CBBC in the UK is lining up a live children’s entertainment show to be broadcast on Saturday mornings from September.

Puppet Hacker T Dog will help front Live & Dangerous

Live & Dangerous (12×120′, working title) will mark the UK pubcaster’s return to live Saturday morning children’s TV.

The show, from BBC Children’s Presentation, follows in the footsteps of shows such as Going Live!, Saturday Superstore and The Multi-Coloured Swap Shop.

The show will feature celebrity guests, games, sketches and audience participation, as well as episodes of CBBC shows. It will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK in Greater Manchester, where BBC Children’s is based.

The presenters, apart from puppet character Hacker T Dog, are yet to be confirmed. The series producer is Jamie Wilson and Ian France will executive produce.

“The presentation team are the beating heart of CBBC and their expanded role on Saturday mornings to deliver a live extravaganza will cause great excitement for our audience,” said Cheryl Taylor, controller of CBBC.

“We have been using new technology to connect with 6-12s for some time now and I’m proud to be in a position to offer unique live participation opportunities that will make CBBC an even more special destination on Saturdays.”
