ABOUT THE CONTENT AMERICAS HISPANIC KIDS PROGRAMMING PITCH 2025

The Content Americas Hispanic Kids Programming Pitch 2025 focuses on two key genres: Films and Series. Content Americas is bringing C21’s tried-and-tested format once again to Latin America, awarding its winner a prize of US$20,000 worth of marketing across C21Media’s digital, print and event products to support development and pre-sales promotion of the show.

 

This year there were over 40 submissions and five finalists have been chosen to pitch live on Wednesday 22 January at 11:45am. The winning project, selected by an esteemed panel of judges, will be announced on Thursday 23 January at the Content Americas closing cocktail party.

Camilo is an experienced international business developer with a demonstrated history of working in global markets for over 14 years. Skilled in business negotiation, market research, key account management, product development and marketing. Strong sales background in the audiovisual industry with a Master´s degree from National Taiwan University. He led Colombia’s international promotion of the audiovisual sector, helping studios in Colombia engage in international missions, co-production deals and overall promoting Colombia as a content production hub.

Javier Pérez de Silva is a founding partner and co-CEO of BETA ENTERTAINMENT SPAIN, a joint venture with the global distributor and production group Beta Film (Germany), based in Madrid and established in late 2019.


Before this role, Javier served as CEO of La Competencia, where he led the creation and production of numerous successful entertainment formats, factual shows, reality series, fiction projects and feature films, some of which achieved international recognition.


He was previously CEO of FremantleMedia Spain, overseeing the adaptation and production of key formats from Fremantle’s catalog (Farmer wants a wife, Password, The X Factor, Got Talent). He has also held leadership positions as General Director at Pulso (Secuoya Group) and Head of Unscripted at El Mundo TV.

Marisol Mijares

Marisol Mijares began her career in front of the cameras at the age of 8 in Mexico, becoming one of the most recognised child actresses of her time. For more than 20 years, she acted in various children’s series and soap operas, while cultivating her passion for theater. At the same time, she studied Philosophy and Communication Sciences, specialising in advertising. This motivated her to explore the audiovisual industry from another angle, where she discovered that her true passion was not appearing in front of the cameras, but rather working behind them.

In 2001, she founded Editorial Dirigida and published the book “Not The End”, which has remained among the top 5 best-selling books in Mexico for 23 years. In 2010, she met award-winning producer Alex Balassa, and in recent years they have worked together as content creators and producers on more than 40 projects for media such as Discovery, Amazon, Televisa/Univisión, Netflix, NatGeo and HBO,among others.

Alex Balassa

With over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Alex Balassa is an International Emmy and Latin Grammy nominated producer and content creator, known for his ability to develop meaningful content. He has stood out in the production of television and film series, with notable works such as According to Bibi (2018), The Great Promise (2017), Héroes Cotidianos HBO (2015) and Mujeres Asesinas (2008).

In addition to his skills in the production of television, film, music videos and commercials, Balassa has a strong background in business. He founded Balassa Films and Blind Spot Pictures, and co-founded Blindspot Capital, an investment fund that supports significant television and film projects in emerging countries. He has produced international projects in more than ten countries in America and Europe.

Renata Brandão is the CEO of Conspiração, one of Latin America’s leading independent entertainment production companies. Under her leadership, Conspiração has produced 50 hours of programming annually, and became the most iEmmy nominated Latin production company. The company’s cinematic portfolio includes entries at prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, and Toronto, as well as Brazilian blockbusters like Two Sons of Francisco, O Auto da Compadecida 2, and the Golden Globe-winning co-production I’m Still Here. It coproduced the 2024 hit film and Golden Globes Winner I’m Still Here. Since 2004, Augustin has been the driving force behind the Rocket Fund’s ongoing commitment to the betterment of Canadian children and youth through strategic investments in media content within a social enterprise model. Under her visionary leadership, the Rocket Fund has grown to become an essential force in fostering innovative content that entertains, educates and inspires young audiences. Augustin has championed strategic partnerships and initiatives that prioritize the creation of diverse and inclusive content. Her forward-thinking approach has helped establish the Fund as a critical player in the children’s media landscape.

 

Augustin’s dedication to increasing the profile of the Canadian children’s media sector can be seen through the Fund’s proactive initiatives and strategic domestic and global partnerships. She works closely with governments and industry organizations to ensure the needs of producers and Canadian children are always top of mind. Agnes has been recognized by organizations such as the Youth Media Alliance and Women in Film and Television for her ongoing support of the sustainability and growth of the industry.

 

Prior to the Rocket Fund, Augustin held roles as VP of business affairs, head of production for CMT, and as an independent producer. Her deep understanding of both the creative and business sides of media production laid the groundwork for her future as a leader in the children’s media space. Through her leadership at the Shaw Rocket Fund, Augustin has become a pivotal figure in advancing children’s media.

Dompé serves as content acquisitions senior manager for all services at The Walt Disney Company Latin America and is in charge of scouting and negotiating the acquisition of content for the company in the region.

Dompé has been in the company since November 2007 and has been working in the acquirement of content that complies with the Disney networks in the region ever since. Among her responsibilities are dealing with international content producers and distributors and searching for new content available in the market based on the services’ needs.

Before joining The Walt Disney Company Latin America, she served as head of publicity and communications at CAPIF.

Zuccarino is senior VP and general manager for kids and animation at Warner Bros. Discovery, Latin America. He leads all aspects of WBD’s kids and animation content in the region, both for the streaming platform HBO Max, bringing together a catalog of top franchises and shows, and the linear channels portfolio, including brands for kids as Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids and Cartoonito, positioned #1 in share in all Latin American markets, as well as adult animation, like Tooncast and Adult Swim channels. Zuccarino leads all the content areas related to these brands, such as strategy, programming, acquisitions, partnerships, and original production, as well as overseeing aspects of the digital, marketing, business and operations overall strategy. In addition, he is responsible for the franchise and experiences area of Warner Bros. Discovery. Known for his passion and deep knowledge of the children’s media landscape, Zuccarino has established his imprint on Warner Bros. Discovery continually expanding the brands, implementing a well-thought multiplatform strategy, developing new products, and generating new business opportunities. He began his career at Cartoon Network in 2004, in content and digital media roles, and was VP and channel manager for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Tooncast Latin America until assuming his current position. Zuccarino has extensive experience in digital marketing and advertising, project management and game development.

Lightcap is a global media executive specializing in general management, strategy, content creation, and brand and creative
leadership in the entertainment industry.

Currently CEO of LightCubed Media, which provides strategic consulting services for entertainment companies and content creators, Lightcap spent 25+ years working for top-tier companies including Disney, Fox and Discovery, in roles such as:

President of Disney Channels Worldwide;
General Manager of Discovery Kids Media;
General Manager of US network Discovery Family;
Chief Content Officer, Discovery Latin America/US Hispanic; and
Chief Marketing Officer, The Walt Disney Company Latin America.

Lightcap also served on corporate boards, both for profit and non-profit.
She’s currently on the Board of Advisors for Fundación Compromiso.
