BBC2 adds Lightning to daytime

The BBC in the UK has commissioned Banijay Group-owned prodco Fizz and Belfast-based Nice One TV to produce a new daytime entertainment show.

Lightning promises to bring a new pace to the BBC2 time slot, with contestants facing quick-fire questions and physical trials over six rounds while a spotlight patrols the studio eliminating them.

The 25×30’ series, hosted by comedian Zoe Lyons, will be filmed in Northern Ireland with support from Northern Ireland Screen.

The format was devised by Fizz (part of Banijay’s RDF) and Nice One, with the former’s Neale Simpson and the latter’s Chris Jones exec producing. It was ordered by BBC head of daytime and early peak Carla-Maria Lawson and commissioning editor Muslim Alim.
