Awesome adds scripted producer

Awesome Media & Entertainment in the UK has appointed a Hollyoaks Later and The Story of Tracy Beaker producer to work across its scripted content for children and adults.

Jane Steventon has joined the London-based firm, which was founded by writer-producer Jeff Norton, as development producer for UK scripted.

Steventon will work with Norton to grow the company’s development slate of both original and adapted IP, which includes the literary novel The Last Wave, which is being developed with ex-BBC Studios executive Fraser Robinson.

Other projects on which Awesome is working include adaptations of the book series Princess Ponies and MetaWars. Steventon’s credits also include the film Tracy Beaker’s The Movie of Me and Casualty.

Her arrival marks Awesome’s first appointment since it received investment from Canada’s Kew Media Group last year, which the company said was allowing it to ramp up its scripted development in both the UK and internationally.

“Jane’s knowledge of producing within the UK scripted landscape across both kids’ and adult content will be invaluable during this next stage of growth for Awesome,” said Norton.
