AT&T gears up for more Mr Mercedes

Serial killer series Mr Mercedes from Sony Pictures TV

DirecTV-owned AT&T Audience Network has ordered a third season of Mr Mercedes, its adaptation of a trio of Stephen King novels.

Sonar Entertainment is set to begin production on the 10×60′ season in early 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina, with the show due to return to screens later in the year.

Television veterans David E Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Jack Bender (Lost, Under the Dome) will return to oversee the writer’s room and direct, respectively.

King, Kelley and Bender will also continue to serve as executive producers, along with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment, Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni of Sonar Entertainment, and Shane Elrod and Kate Regan of AT&T Audience Network.

The show follows a retired police detective (Brendan Gleeson) as he is taunted by a demented killer, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private crusade to bring the murderer to justice.

It is based on King’s Bill Hodges trilogy, which includes the novels Mr Mercedes (2014), Finders Keepers (2015) and End of Watch (2016).
