ABC Australia boosts educational offer

Many Oz states have introduced new rules around social gatherings this week

Australian pubcaster the ABC has boosted the amount of educational content in its schedule to support students at home during the Covid-19 crisis.

With many schools closed because of the pandemic, ABC Education is working with state and territory education departments and other education providers to deliver additional curriculum-linked content to children of all ages.

ABC MD David Anderson said the pubcaster was ready to launch the extra resources in line with its charter requirement to broadcast programmes of an educational nature.

From April 14, the ABC will extend its educational programming on ABC Me to support children and caregivers at home, with content airing during the day each weekday.

The ABC will also offer additional online support through its portal ABC Education, with access to more than 4,000 free videos, interactive resources and games mapped to the Australian curriculum.
