Wrecks & Riches explores a wreck graveyard in the Bahamas

Hearst Networks UK has joined forces with Amsterdam-based distributor Off the Fence (OTF) on an “immersive” factual series called Wrecks & Riches.

Hearst has pre-bought the 10×60’ series and will also coproduce it with OTF. Two seasons are scheduled, with the first due to be delivered in the first quarter of next year.

From producer and writer Colby Gaines, the founder of Austin-based indie Back Roads Entertainment and co-creator of reality show Pawn Stars, Wrecks & Riches follows an expert team as they explore an untouched area of the Bahamas that has come to be known as the ‘shipwreck graveyard.’

According to OTF, it is estimated that as much as US$6m worth of treasure remains hidden beneath the waves in the Caribbean alone. The team will explore and uncover the wrecks in one of the most dangerous reefs in the world.

Gaines exec produces with expedition leader Allan Watson and showrunner James Conant. Back Road’s VP of development Alexis Iraq co-exec produces with line producer Scott Greenberg and Ken Brisbois.
