Workerbee, Paper Route Studios link up on Jackson brothers doc

The five Jackson brothers

MIPCOM: Banijay UK’s unscripted prodco Workerbee and Paper Route Studios in Canada have partnered on a documentary about pop icons Jackie, Jermanie, Tito and Marlon Jackson.

The as-yet-unnamed 1×90’ feature doc, which will also be available as a three-part series, is being showcased to buyers at Mipcom this week by France’s Mediawan, which holds the international distribution rights.

The doc tells the story of the four brothers, their journey as part of one of the world’s earliest and most successful boybands, The Jackson Five, accompanied by future superstar sibling Michael, and the various roads each of their lives took.

Directed by Benjamin Hirsch, who directed Workerbee’s 2022 docuseries about the Jackson brothers’ sister Janet, the doc was filmed over three years and features the final interview with Tito before his death in 2024.

Banijay Entertainment supported the film through early-stage development investment via its Creative Fund.
