US, Australian viewers set to receive Stacks of Cash with local versions of Fremantle gameshow

Stacks of Cash has had a successful start on Portuguese TV

US broadcast network CBS and Seven Network in Australia have commissioned local versions of Fremantle gameshow format Stacks of Cash.

Created and produced by Eureka (Wonka: The Golden Ticket; Holey Moley) and represented globally by Fremantle, Stacks of Cash challenges contestants with supersized versions of the stacking games commonly played on mobile devices.

Six players answer rapid-fire general-knowledge questions to win giant shapes, each with a cash value emblazoned on it. They then use a giant claw to carefully lower the shapes into place and build an increasingly teetering tower. If the tower falls, the contestant is eliminated. Contestants have no idea which of more than 30 shapes – including a circle, a teddy bear and a top hat – they will win.

For US broadcaster CBS, a 10×60′ version will be hosted by Emmy-nominated actor Mike O’Malley. The host of Seven’s 6×60′ adaptation has yet to be revealed.

The format performed strongly on its European debut this summer on Portuguese broadcaster TVI, where it is locally titled Linha D’Ouro (7×90′).

All three versions are filmed at the dedicated Stacks of Cash production hub in Portugal.

Stacks of Cash will be presented by Fremantle at Mipcom in Cannes as part of a slate that includes another new format from Eureka, The Tunnel. Recent entertainment launches by Fremantle include the UK streaming hit Handcuffed and crazy-golf format Holey Moley.
