5Star returns to originals

Viacom UK channel 5Star has moved into original factual entertainment programming by commissioning three shows.

100% Hotter (working title), Strip Date and Sex Pod will be 5Star’s first originals in almost a decade.

FremantleMedia-backed Naked Entertainment’s 100% Hotter (20×30’) sees individuals strip away their fake tans and nail and hair extensions before restoring their natural style. The show is executive produced by Simon Andreae and Mike Warner at Naked.

Strip Date (20×30’), from Boomerang, features two singletons from different social backgrounds looking to find love.

Meanwhile, In Sex Pod (10×60’), from Crackit Productions, experts look to dispell the UK public’s sex myths while giving advice.

All three series will air this year.

The news comes after 5Star announced that it would be the UK home to fantasy drama The Shannara Chronicles and Heroes Reborn.

“These new commissions reinforce the exciting strategic journey we’re undertaking at 5Star, developing edgy and entertaining content that will appeal to a younger audience,” said Sebastian Cardwell, who alongside Gemma Hewlett is channel manager for 5Star.
