Zodiak takes BBC2 to Versailles

GEITF: BBC2 in the UK has acquired Canal+’s English-language period drama Versailles from distributor Zodiak Rights.

Zodiak Rights has licensed Versailles to BBC2

The 10-part series will debut on the French pay TV broadcasters this autumn and is a Canal+ Création Originale series, coproduced by Zodiak Fiction, Capa Drama and Incendo.

Set in 1667, the series promises a unique take on a defining period of French history, focusing on the ruthless leadership of King Louis XIV.

Simon Mirren (Without a Trace, Criminal Minds), David Wolstencroft (Spooks), Claude Chelli (Braquo) and Anne Thomopoulos (Rome, The Tudors) all executive produced the series.

Versailles has already been presold to SquareOne Entertainment, one of the leading film marketing and distribution companies in Germany, and Movistar TV in Spain. Zodiak Rights holds worldwide distribution rights to the series.
