The UK channels operator has acquired Pinocchio (2×60’) and A Bear Named Winnie (1×120’) for its Drama channel, alongside Crusoe (13×60’).

The 13-part adaptation of Daniel Defoe’s classic novel stars Sam Neil and Sean Bean and was originally commissioned by NBC in the US and produced by Power.

A Bear Named Winnie, coproduced by Power and Canada’s Original Pictures, tells the tale of a young army veterinarian and his bear cub, Winnie.

Knowing he can’t take Winnie with him to the frontline in France, he finds a home for her at London Zoo, vowing to return as soon as the war is over.

Power’s version of Pinocchio, coproduced with Italian pubcaster Rai, was originally a 120-minute TV movie but can also be aired in two parts. The adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s famous work stars the late Bob Hoskins.
