TVNZ lands fishing show

New Zealand pubcaster TVNZ has reclaimed the rights to The ITM Fishing Show, which last aired on the channel more than six years ago.

The programme began life on TVNZ channel TV1 but spent the past six years on commercial broadcaster TV3.

TVNZ has now signed a multi-year deal for the show, which will air later this year in a Saturday afternoon slot.

Matt Watson, the show’s creator and presenter, said: “I feel that TV1 has the best reach into suburban, rural and regional New Zealand, where we have our strongest following. If you want to see the Kiwi outdoors and real Kiwi characters, TV1 is where you go.”

ITM will continue to be the principle sponsor of the show, for the 10th consecutive year.
