TruTV orders first comedy pilot

US cablenet TruTV has ordered a comedy pilot about a group of dysfunctional high school teachers.

Those Who Can’t (working title), from Thank You, Brain! Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment, was created by Denver-based comedy troupe The Grawlix – made up of performers Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy.

The show was formerly pitched as a pilot for Amazon Prime’s OTT service but Tru TV plans to reshoot the entire epsiode.

It marks TruTV’s first foray into full-length scripted series after the network branched out into scripted sketch comedy with the current series Friends of the People, also from 3 Arts Entertainment.

TruTV is in around 93 million homes in the US and is owned by Turner Broadcasting.
