TLC appoints ABC exec

US network TLC has appointed a development and production exec from ABC Family.

Sandy Varo Jarrell will take up the newly-created position of senior VP of production and development, west coast, from November 12 with a remit to direct programming strategy on new and existing projects from Los Angeles.

Jarrell was head of unscripted programming and development at ABC Family, and was previously VP of reality programming and development at Lifetime and CBS Entertainment.

The appointment comes after the female-skewing lifestyle net restructured its development and production teams along geographical lines, with Howard Lee promoted to exec VP of development and production on the east coast.

Both Jarrell and Lee will report to Nancy Daniels, who was appointed TLC general manager in September.
