Syfy UK take The Originals

Syfy in the UK has acquired rights to The Originals following a deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

The NBCUniversal-owned cabsat network has picked up the new supernatural drama, which was inspired by The Vampire Diaries, ahead of its US premiere on The CW in October.

The Originals focuses on three siblings who were first seen in season two of The Vampire Diaries and follows their return home to New Orleans where they face old foes. It has been produced by Bonanza Productions in association with My So-Called Company, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios.

Adam Collings, channel director Syfy UK, said: “With such an established and successful heritage, and US network credentials, The Originals is our biggest acquisition since V in 2010.”
