Syfy surfaces in Sri Lanka

US cablenet Syfy is entering South Asia with a launch on Sri Lanka’s Dialog TV platform.

SyFy has cancelled Helix

The NBCUniversal International channel will debut in the country on May 1, giving Dialog TV subscribers access to series such as Dark Matter, Dominion, Asian production Paranormal Zone, Supernatural: The Animation and reality show Heroes of Cosplay.

Dialog TV currently carries Syfy’s sister channels – women’s entertainment channel DIVA, pop culture-based E! and global flagship brand Universal Channel.

In related news, Syfy in the US has cancelled its scripted drama Helix two weeks after the second season’s finale on April 10.

The thriller follows a team of scientists who travel to the Arctic to investigate a disease outbreak, only to find themselves locked in a struggle that threatens mankind’s existence.
