Starline to raise Born in New York

Born in New York, Raised in Paris features Public Enemy frontman Chuck D

London-based Starline Entertainment has picked up the global distribution rights to Born in New York, Raised in Paris, the debut documentary feature from director and producer Victoria Thomas.

The hip hop-themed film is a coproduction from UK-based Polkadot Factory; French filmmaker, writer and journalist, Rokhaya Diallo (Not Yo’ Mama’s Movement); New York- and Paris-based talent manager Yasmina F Edwards; and producer Severine Catelion.

Born in New York, Raised in Paris looks at how France has become the biggest territory for the music genre outside of the US and features Public Enemy frontman Chuck D, along with slew of French rap talent such as Mokobe, Menelik, Kery James and Ekoue of La Rumeur.

Piers Nightingale, Starline’s director of acquisitions, negotiated the deal with Polkadot.

The documentary is in post-production and is set for delivery in January or February 2018.
