SPT makes Farsi first

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has agreed its first deal with a Farsi-language channel after partnering with Broadcast Middle East.

The arrangement will see 344 dubbed episodes of Emmy Award-winning US talker The Dr Oz Show aired on regional network Farsi1.

Broadcast Middle East is part of the Moby Group, a media outfit operating networks across central Asia and north Africa that claims to reach more than 300 million people.

The Dr Oz Show, now in its sixth season in the US, is a talkshow hosted by surgeon Dr Mehmet Oz and focuses on health, wellbeing and lifestyle issues. It is a spin-off from the Oprah Winfrey Show where Dr Oz first appeared as a guest segment.

It is coproduced by SPT and Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, and has been sold by SPT to more than 118 territories around the world including the UK (Discovery) and Spain (Mediaset). Local versions have also been produced in China, Russia and India.
