Sky Vision acquisitions boss exits

Sky Vision, the UK-based distribution arm of European satcaster Sky, is revamping its acquisitions department in a move that has seen its US chief leave the firm.

Alex Fraser, head of acquisitions for scripted, entertainment and North America, has left the company. His role will be split into three separate posts: VP of acquisitions for North America, drama executive and acquisitions co-ordinator.

Sky said the move had been made “to handle the growth of the business, and specifically our expansion in North America.”

In a statement, first reported by TBI, the company added: “We are bolstering the acquisitions division to place more resource where needed most in order to continue to provide excellent service to our production partners and clients as we grow. Unfortunately, in order to create three new posts, we have to dissolve one.”

The new VP of acquisitions North America will be based in New York and will act as Sky Vision’s day-to-day liaison with its non-scripted production companies in the territory.

The drama exec will deliver scripted projects from Sky channels and third parties, while the acquisitions co-ordinator will work alongside the rest of acquisitions team, with both roles based in London.

Fraser, who consulted for Sky Vision prior to joining full time, previously worked for Eagle Rock Entertainment. He also had a stint at IMG Entertainment as VP of sales and acquisitions.

The firm’s statement added: “Alex has handled a broad and demanding portfolio since he joined in 2013, and while the additional resource in the proposed restructure will bolster our growth, none of the new roles match the seniority of Alex’s current post nor demand his level of experience and knowledge.”
