Sky slates UK version of TBS’s Nerds

UK satcaster Sky has ordered a local version of Electus format King of the Nerds, which airs in the US on TBS.

All3Media-owned Objective Productions, 5×5 Media, which produces the US version, and Electus are all working on the UK show (8×60’) that will air on general entertainment network Sky1 later this year.

The series will take 11 of the sharpest young minds in the UK and test their intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture knowledge.

The competitors will live together and compete first as teams and then on individual challenges, with one elimination each week.

The US series has sold into more than 80 territories and is distributed by Electus International, which sells the original version, format and will also shop the UK version when it is completed.

The show was commissioned by Sky’s commissioning editor for entertainment Barbara Lee and Sky1 director Adam MacDonald. It will be executive produced by Adam Adler and Shannon Delwiche from Objective Productions.

It forms part of Sky’s commitment to spend £600m a year in original British content across its portfolio of channels, which also includes Sky Atlantic and Sky Living.
