Scientology TV channel to go live

The Church of Scientology is today launching its own 24-hour TV network on broadcaster DirecTV and digital platforms Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Google Chromecast.

Scientology Network was announced via social media and will be available via an app from iTunes and Google Play.

Audiences will be offered live TV, including full episodes of shows Meet a Scientologist, Voices for Humanity and L Ron Hubbard: In His Own Voice and Scientology Principles films.

The network’s launch comes at a time when the controversial group has been the subject of several high-profile and largely negative TV series.

These include A&E’s Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath, which has aired for two seasons and sees The King of Queens actor allege abuse and harassment at the hands of the organisation – accusations which The Church of Scientology has refuted.

Also highly critical was multi-award-winning Sky Atlantic and HBO coproduction Alex Gibney’s Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief, which aired in the UK in 2015.
