Ryan Murphy’s nurse tends to Netflix

US streamer Netflix has ordered two 18-episode seasons of a Sarah Paulson-starring drama based on the Nurse Ratched character from movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

With executive producers including Ryan Murphy and Michael Douglas, who produced the film, the show will track Ratched as she shifts from being a normal nurse in the 1940s into the infamous figure from the 1975 movie, which is based on Ken Kesey’s novel of the same name.

Paulson and Murphy have previously worked together on the latter’s FX anthology series American Horror Story and American Crime Story.

Fox 21 TV Studios produces while Evan Romansky, who created and wrote the project, will co-executive produce.
