Rodriguez returns to Dusk

Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is set to direct the first episode of the second season of drama From Dusk Till Dawn when it returns on his US channel, El Rey Network.

The TV series is based on Rodriguez’s 1996 movie of the same name, with the second 13-part series set to air this summer.

Miramax will now be the lead prodco on the second and any future seasons of the show, which is made in association with Rodriguez International Pictures, FactoryMade Ventures, and Sugarcane Entertainment.

Rodriguez is exec producing with showrunner Carlos Coto, writer Diego Gutierrez and FactoryMade Ventures and El Rey Network co-founders John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa.

Miramax is distributing internationally, with the first season already becoming available on subscription VoD service Netflix.
