Canada's jPod makes UK debut via VoD Cult Canadian drama jPod is heading to the UK after cable company Virgin Media acquired rights to the show, which it will premiere via its video-on-demand service. The series, which debuted on CBC last year and was based on a book of the same name by Canuck novelist Douglas Coupland, explores the "amusing and twisted" lives of five co-workers at a massive video game company. ![]() The series will launch via Virgin's paid on-demand 'TV Choice' library this week and be available for two months, with the first four episodes also available through Virgin Central, the company's free on-demand channel. "With jPod, Virgin Media customers will be using on-demand TV to view content for the first time, rather than using it to catch up with shows which have already been broadcast on linear channels," said the company's executive director of content acquisition Katharine Burns Rivington. "We hope that this is the first of many on-demand premieres in the UK." Adam Benzine 2 Jun 2009 © C21 Media 2009 C21 Home | FutureMedia Home | Printer Friendly | Email a Friend |
