Princess Pictures picks MD

The former CEO of state agency Film Victoria has joined Princess Pictures in the newly created role of MD as the Australian prodco looks to expand its horizons and market connections.

Jenni Tosi

Jenni Tosi left Film Victoria last December after 10 years at the agency, spending the last six as CEO. During her tenure, she was highly effective in introducing a range of initiatives to boost production, support businesses and develop talent in the state.

Before that, Tosi was an independent producer and consultant for numerous Australian production companies.

Owned by Laura Waters, Andrea Denholm, Paul Walton and Emma Fitzsimons, Princess Pictures has two series in production. How to Stay Married, commissioned by Network Ten, is a comedy series starring Peter Helliar and Lisa McCune as a couple whose marriage of 12 years has gone stale.

Superwog, meanwhile, is a comedy about a misunderstood, dysfunctional suburban family that has been co-commissioned by pubcaster the ABC and YouTube.

The firm is developing a number of drama series and formats for the local and international markets. Its credits include My Year 7 Life, Wrong Kind of Black and Summer Heights High.

Waters said: “We have an ambitious and exciting slate planned and are thrilled to have Jenni on board to help steer the company through the next phase of growth.”

Tosi added: “Princess Pictures has a terrific slate and we’re going to have a lot of fun as we build the company’s presence in the international marketplace.”
