Poland, Spain wake up to Nightmares

Broadcasters in Poland and Spain are preparing local versions of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, with the chef’s new US series also finding international homes.

TVN (Poland), La Sexta (Spain), Nelonen (Finland), 1+1 (Ukraine) and TV Prima (Czech Republic) have picked up the Kitchen Nightmares format in deals with Optomen International, the distribution arm of All3Media-owned Optomen Television.

In the series, which began in the UK on Channel 4, Ramsay visits failing restaurants and attempts to turn their fortunes around.

The format has been renewed for a fifth season by US network Fox, which is also set to air the chef’s new series Hotel Hell (6×60’) next month.

Kanal Fem in Sweden, TVN in Poland, France’s W9 and TVM in Belgium have all licensed the show, in which Ramsay travels across the US to fix the nation’s most horrible hotels. www.c21media.net/archives/56068

Hotel Hell is produced by prodco One Potato Two Potato, a joint venture between Ramsay and Optomen, and is due to debut on Fox on April 6.

Ramsay said: “These are stories that everyone can relate to, because virtually all of us have had a bad hotel experience that’s turned a holiday or business trip into a total disaster. It’s time to put the hospitality industry to the test.”
