OSF bags BBC’s Philo

UK-based Oxford Scientific Films (OSF) has appointed a BBC exec to a newly created role overseeing development.

Mike Philo will become development executive at OSF after joining from BBC Development Central, where he has been since May 2014.

Development Central, launched by former BBC TV chief Danny Cohen, is a centralised unit for in-house production and was designed to develop unscripted ideas across factual, factual entertainment, formats and entertainment.

Philo’s programming credits include BBC2 evolution series Origins of Us, while he has also worked for Keo Films and Raw Cut TV.

Philo will generate high-end specialist and broad populist ideas for OSF and takes up his position at the end of this month.
