Now TV adds Sky entertainment nets

UK satcaster BSkyB’s internet television service Now TV has started offering its entertainment channels on a monthly pay-as-you-go basis.

Viewers will be able to watch Sky channels such as Sky1, Sky Atlantic and Sky Living via Now TV for an introductory fee of £4.99 (US$8) per month.

Also included in the entertainment package will be channels such as Sky Arts 1, Discovery, MTV, Comedy Central, Gold, Disney and Fox. Shows such as Dracula on Sky Living and The Tunnel on Sky Atlantic will be available, as well as the upcoming season of Mad Men on Sky Atlantic.

The monthly pass will also allow access to box sets including every episode of The Wire and seasons one to three of An Idiot Abroad.

Now TV launched in July last year, initially allowing viewers to watch Sky’s sports channels and access movies for a one-off monthly fee.

Gidon Katz, director of Now TV, said the move would allow “pay-as-you-go access to brand new episodes of home-grown British shows” as well as US series for “anyone with broadband.”

The move comes after rival operator BT signed a deal earlier this month with Curzon Home Cinema to provide on-demand movie access via its YouView TV boxes.
