ITVX acquires UK rights to Globoplay’s fantasy romantic drama Fallen from Silver Reel

Fallen is based on a young-adult novel by US author Lauren Kate

ITVX, the streaming service operated by UK broadcaster ITV, has acquired the local rights to Fallen, the English-language fantasy romance series originally commissioned by Brazilian streamer Globoplay.

The eight-part series, made by Silver Reel in coproduction with Night Train Media, is based on a 2009 young-adult novel by US author Lauren Kate. Matt Hastings (The Handmaid’s Tale, Shadowhunters) directs.

The deal with ITVX was brokered by Lucy Roberts, outgoing director of sales at Serafin Group-owned distributor Eccho Rights.

The series stars Jessica Alexander (The Little Mermaid) as a young woman sent to the austere Sword & Cross reform facility, where she finds herself drawn to an enigmatic figure (played by Gijs Blom), only to discover a love that places her at the heart of a war between heaven and hell.

The cast also includes Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso), Alexander Siddig (Game of Thrones), and Timothy Innes (The Last Kingdom).

Fallen debuted on Brazilian broadcast group Globo’s streamer Globoplay in the summer of 2024. It also premiered in the US as an original for AMC Networks’ Sundance Now, as well as streaming on AMC+.
