FlashForward racks up 100 territories MIPCOM NEWS: ABC Studios' drama FlashForward has been picked up by another nine broadcasters, Disney-ABC-ESPN Television revealed today. AXN (Central and Eastern Europe), AXN (Japan), Channel 1 (Russia), Fox International Channels (Russia), M-Net (Africa), Orbit Showtime (Middle East), ProSieben (Germany),TF1 (France) and TV4 (Sweden) have all acquired the series. In addition, the show is the subject of new media deals with TF1 Vision (France) and TV2 Sumo (Norway).Disney-ABC-ESPN, the international distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company, said it has worked with partners across linear television and new media platforms to deliver the series as close as possible to the US premiere. The series has now been sold into more than 100 territories. The news comes after Fox Italia and another 10 broadcasters serving 44 countries in Asia Pacific picked up the series FlashForward, adapted from the novel by Robert J Sawyer, debuted on ABC on September 24 and became the strongest performing show in its 20.00-21.00 timeslot, with an 11% margin over its nearest competitor. Stephen Moore, executive VP and MD of Disney-ABC-ESPN, said: "The buzz surrounding this brilliant new show makes it crucial that audiences have a legitimate way to access the series as soon as they can. "We have made great strides on this front with a huge number of our international partners - through the use of new media platforms and working hard to keep local premieres as close to the US as possible."
