US, Euro nets follow ice dinosaurs MIPCOM NEWS: Broadcasters in Canada, Germany, France and the US have come together to coproduce a documentary from Wide-Eyed Entertainment about Arctic dinosaurs. March of the Dinosaurs (1x87') is being funded by Canada's History Television, National Geographic US, Super RTL, France 5 and Canadian graphics company Modus, and is being coproduced with Toronto-based Yap Films. Wide-Eyed has UK rights while FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has the rest of the world. The film will be exec produced by Jasper James (Walking with Dinosaurs, Prehistoric Park, Land of Giants).Due for completion at the end of 2010, the film follows a 1,000-mile march made by ancient Arctic dinosaurs, the bones of which have only recently been discovered. "Using 100% computer-generated scenes, we'll be able to convey the full awe and magic of a time when dinosaurs battled against ice, snow and fire and predators stalked under the northern lights," said James. Wide-Eyed was set up last year by former Impossible Pictures and BBC executive James, BBC and Channel 4 executive producer David McNab and Parule Basu-Barua, a former BBC America executive, in association with award-winning CGI house Red Vision. FME acquired a minority stake in March. Ed Waller 8 Oct 2009 © C21 Media 2009 |
