Netflix reboots Spike Lee movie

Streaming giant Netflix is partnering with Spike Lee on a drama based on the director’s 1986 indie film She’s Gotta Have It.

The show, originally in development at US cablenet Showtime, will follow a Brooklyn-based artist in her late 20s struggling to divide her time between her friends, job and three lovers.

Lee will direct all 10 episodes and executive produce with his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee.

The project continues the wider trend for TV adaptations of films, with remakes of The Exorcist, Training Day, Lethal Weapon and Taken all set to premiere on networks this season.
