Narcos prodco lines up Last Cop remake

The Last Cop originally aired on Germany’s Sat.1

The Colombian production company behind Netflix hit Narcos has picked up the format rights to a police drama from distributor Red Arrow International.

Dynamo, which produces Narcos with Gaumont in the US, and Spiral International have taken the rights to The Last Cop and are preparing a Hispanic version called Falco.

Falco (15×60’) will be showrun by Mexican director and screenwriter Ernesto Contreras (Blue Eyelids, I Dream in Another Language, The Obscure Spring). The show is currently in pre-production and is slated for production in Mexico City from the end of this month.

The series follows a detective who is shot in the head in 1994 and put in a coma until he wakes in 2018 to a changed world. The series will launch with a feature-length pilot.

The Last Cop originally aired on Sat.1 in Germany. Red Arrow has sold the format around the world, into countries including France, where TF1 has aired five seasons; Russia, where an adaptation aired on Channel 5; Japan, where two seasons were made available on Hulu and Nippon TV, along with a theatrical movie; the Czech Republic; and Estonia.

Red Arrow International will distribute the Latin American version of Falco worldwide.
