Mediaset stocks up on US content

Spanish broadcaster Mediaset has picked up a host of US dramas and comedies including CBS’s Elementary and ABC’s Zero Hour.

Elementary, the latest interpretation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories, stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu and opened to 14 million viewers in the US on CBS last week. It is produced by CBS TV Studios and Timberman-Beverly Productions.

Zero Hour is produced by ABC Studios for ABC and tells the story of a science magazine editor who finds himself at the centre of a conspiracy.

Mediaset, the Spanish arm of the Italian broadcaster, has also taken on ABC thriller Red Widow, produced by ABC Studios and Endemol Studios, and comedies Baby Daddy and The Neighbors.

Other pick-ups include Graceland, from Fox Television Studios for USA Network; Beauty & the Beast, produced by CBS for The CW; and The Client List, which is made by Sony for Lifetime TV.
