Mediapro makes East Europe move

Imagina-owned Spanish media group Mediapro has entered the Eastern European market for the first time, acquiring Slovenian independent production company VPK PRO.

Based in the capital, Ljubljana, the firm also has offices in Serbia and Croatia. Its staff of almost 100 will join Mediapro’s 6,500-strong worldwide workforce.

The company specialises in production and transmission of big events, as well as developing and delivering series and specials. It has worked for almost a decade on primetime series for national Slovenian broadcaster RTV as well as the country’s commercial nets.

The deal expands Mediapro’s European reach, adding to offices in Portugal, France, Belgium, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, the UK, Italy and Turkey. It will also see the group’s audiovisual services consolidated in Central Europe.
