Mainframe and Fleischer bring back Betty Boop

BANFF NEWS – Canada’s Mainframe Entertainment and US veteran toon producer Fleischer Studios are teaming up to create a new TV series based on the latter’s flagship Betty Boop brand.

First introduced in the 1930s, Betty Boop was created by Max Fleischer for his {talkartoons{ series for Paramount, the first {talkies{ in animation.

{The cgi expertise of Mainframe will help us to present Betty in new and exciting situations, making her as relevant to audiences of all ages today as she was 70 years ago,” said Mark Fleischer, president of Fleischer Studios.

Mainframe will be working with Fleischer and King Features Syndicate on launching what Ian Pearson, chief creative officer at Mainframe, called a significant licensing and merchandising campaign in support of the new series.

Plans are in the works to translate the modern Betty Boop character to a variety of products, including a new video series, interactive games and collectible items.

Mainframe is also in production on 26 half-hour episodes of Fox's cgi series Action Man, as well as a TV toon series based on the Heavy Gear video game.
